Education Development Center, Inc (EDC) Jobs Vacancies in Kigali, Rwanda

Education Development Center, Inc (EDC) is recruiting for USAID funded project, Akazi Kanoze. Akazi Kanoze will provide over 12,000 youth, ages 14-24, with market-relevant life and work readiness training and support, hands-on training opportunities, and links into the employment and self-employment job market.


The project started in 2009, over a four year period, until January 2014.
EDC would like to recruit for the following positions based in Kigali :

1. DATA ADMINISTRATOR
The Data Administrator will work under the M&E Specialist to undertake tasks related to project’s data management systems. S/he will assist in ensuring accurate and comprehensive project data processing, storage, and reporting. This position is located in Kigali/Rwanda.

Essential functions are :
• Manage the Akazi Kanoze database
• Train and supervise different implementing partners in the use of the project’s Access database
• Maintain and review data quality of reported data and generate data reports for quarterly and annual reports as well as any other report
• Assist in the project’s ICT systems and platforms data management and integration including the SMS based system
• Generate certificates for Akazi Kanoze graduates as well as Akazi Kanoze trainers
• Conduct database maintenance and updates of the database as needed and work with data collaborative consultant for advanced database modifications/updates
• Assist in updating the project’s website
• Update the Akazi Kanoze database user guide as necessary
• Provide input for improving data management systems as necessary
• Any other activity as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications And Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree (or post high school education) in information technology or related field ; with strong database/data management skills especially in MS Access software, and in SQL, VBA programming language.
• One year experience in database/data management ;
• Graduates of the Akazi Kanoze Work Readiness Training are strongly encouraged to apply.

2. MONITORING AND EVALUATION ASSISTANT
The M&E Assistant will work under the M&E Specialist to undertake tasks related to monitoring and evaluation of the project. S/he will assist in ensuring accurate and comprehensive data collection and reporting of results for the project indicators, against the agreed targets and methods for collecting information on project activities. This position is located in Kigali/Rwanda.

Essential functions are :
• Contribute to ongoing updates of the monitoring systems and reporting schedule ;
• Assist to collect both qualitative and quantitative data for indicators to track implementation ;
• Undertake field visits on M&E activities and ensure documentation of project results in accordance with USAID and project’s strategic objectives and indicators ;
• Assist to identify, document and disseminate lessons learned and success stories ;
• Assist the M&E specialist in guiding technical staff to prepare their progress reports and ensure their timely submission.
• Provide data quality control/assurance and best practices on data collected and used ;
• Organize and conduct external assessment for Work Readiness Training graduates along with project’s field coordinators and ensure marking and proper filing of external assessment files.
• Assist in preparing consolidated project progress reports
• Any other activity as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications And Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree (or post high school education) in statistics or a management related field with strong computer skills and understanding of statistical analysis software such as Excel
• Strong communication skills
• One year experience with performance monitoring, preferably on a USAID program ;
• Graduates of the Akazi Kanoze Work Readiness Training are strongly encouraged to apply.
