Job title: Income Generation Activities Officer

Immediate Supervisor: Programme Coordinator




Aspire Rwanda is a Non-Governmental Organisation dedicated to equipping vulnerable and impoverished women and youth with knowledge, skills, esteem and mutual support networks to lift themselves and their communities out of poverty. 

To fulfill its mission, Aspire Rwanda wishes to recruit a self-driven individual for the “IGA Officer (Income Generation Activities Officer)” position.

The IGA Officer will be responsible for providing support and income generation expertise that will enable the programme graduates start up viable businesses to ensure economic self-sufficiency. This individual will ensure that all aspects of income Generation strategy are implemented.

Specific duties include:

1)      Provide women with basic business education and guidance necessary to start, manage and grow their business

2)      Provide technical assistance to women participants in the development of appropriate income generating activities and critically analyse business ideas and support business proposal development

3)      Support financial forecasting and realistic budgeting for women to implement business idea and facilitate women to identify market and conduct market research (profitable skills, pricing, costs, sales potential)

4)      Facilitate loan applications from Micro seeds and local SACCO so that the women access start up capital for their business

5)      In charge of following up loan disbursements from Micro Seeds and SACCO and ensuring that repayment is done on time

6)      Provide monthly, quarterly and annual reports to the Programme Coordinator

7)      Facilitate and strengthen the formation of women cooperatives and official registration

8)      Ensure timeliness and quality of activity implementation

9)      Supervise, support and motivate teams of beneficiaries

10)  Ensure clear and frequent communication with participants and monitor the progress of their business

11)  Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other team members, local stakeholders and participants at the business sites

12)  Provide beneficiaries with capacity building in business skills and entrepreneurship development

13)  Any other duties assigned



Qualifications and requirements

Hold a Bachelor degree in Business Administration or other related field

Experience of at least 2 years in a similar position
