SNV Rwanda is seeking for highly qualified consulting firm or independent consultants to carry out Sanitation Supply Chain and market analysis and Household’s assessment for access to drinking water treatment and safe storage options under USAID funded Gikuriro Pro
  1. Gikuriro Background
Since December 2015, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and SNV Rwanda are implementing an Integrated Nutrition and WASH Activity program across eight (8) districts of Rwanda to promote improved outcomes in nutrition and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) through targeted capacity-building and implementation of the Government of Rwanda’s Community-based Food and Nutrition Program (CBF&NP) and Community-based Environmental Health Promotion Program (CBEHPP).
Gikuriro program aims at improving the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under five years of age, with an emphasis on the 1,000-day window of opportunity from pregnancy until a child’s second birthday.
The program is in line with USAID’s Multi-Sectoral nutrition strategy to improve nutrition to save lives, build resilience, increase economic productivity, and advance development. CRS and SNV pool significant technical expertise and capacity strengthening experience in the four key areas to catalyze results of existing actors: nutrition (CRS), hygiene and sanitation (SNV), capacity strengthening (CRS and SNV) and BCC (CRS and SNV).
The program works through decentralized Government of Rwanda (GoR) systems and structures and local civil society organizations (LCSOs) in the districts of Kayonza, Kicukiro, Ngoma, Nyabihu, Nyanza, Nyarugenge, Ruhango, Rwamagana.
2. Objective of the consultancy
The main objective of this assessment is assess households’ i) access, availability, utilization, needs for drinking water treatment and safe storage options; ii) sanitation supply chain and market in eight districts. The program will use the findings to design a strategy to develop business models to improve access to sanitation and household water treatment and safe storage options.
This consultancy is open to firm(s) and independent consultants with strong experience in conducting similar works in relation to WASH and available for the entire period of the work. Consulting firm or team of consultants interested to respond to this consultancy can request for the terms of reference full document by

The details on the purpose of the study, key study questions, the proposed study design, the scope of work, required experience and expertise are well articulated in the terms of reference document.  The consulting firm or team of consultants shall submit their proposals through e-mail by 5:30 PM Rwanda Time, on 3rd August 2016.
