Catholic Relief Services (CRS),Senior Agriculture Officer for Farmer Field Learning Schools Jobs in Rwanda

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an internation
al non-governmental organization supporting relief and development work in over 100 countries around the world. CRS programs assist persons on the basis of need, regardless of creed, ethnicity or nationality. The primary goal of CRS/Rwanda programming is to ensure that vulnerable households in Rwanda achieve full, integral human development.
CRS seeks qualified Rwandan candidates for the following  five positions for an anticipated Hinga Weze program aimed to improve access to and utilization of nutrition-sensitive production and processing technologies, improve the capacity of smallholder farmers to manage natural resources and adapt to climate change, and increase general nutrition knowledge and adoption of appropriate nutrition practices. All positions are based in Kigali with field travel.
The Senior Agriculture Officer for Farmer Field Learning Schools is instrumental in developing strategic and operational plans, coordinating, implementing and providing technical assistance to nutrition-sensitive agricultural components of the Hinga Weze program, particularly promotion of climate-smart agriculture and bio-intensive agricultural techniques.S/he will be a key representative, alongside Hinga Weze program leadership,to the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI), district leadership and program sub-contractors.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, or related field with a minimum of five years professional experience in Agriculture.
  • Deep knowledge of nutrition-sensitive agricultural techniques, including bio-intensive agricultural techniques, fortified seeds and home gardens.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively promoting nutrition-sensitive agricultural techniques to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge to stakeholders with a variety of educational backgrounds and interests through both formal and informal training.
  • Previous experience working with local civil society organizations on nutrition-sensitive agriculture programming.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender-responsive programming.
  • Strong leadership skills with independence and good self-initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams, to engage and motivate staff and solve challenges in an innovative manner.
  • Fluency in English orFrench, and Kinyarwanda, written and spoken, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work well with people, good judgment and commitment to CRS’ mission.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to rural field sites for monitoring and training.
  • Advanced computer skills – MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Rwandan nationality
