POSITION: Administrative Assistant/Expeditor

OPENING DATE: February 15, 2017

WORK HOURS: Full-time 40 hours/week

SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-7: 10,833,637 RWF Annual Gross salary

Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): FP-07: 35,718 USD

*Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

The selected candidate must be able to start work immediately after receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications, or their candidacy may not be considered.


The U.S. Mission in Kigali, Rwanda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant/Expeditor.

Incumbent provides administrative service to the Regional Affairs Office (RAO) staff and visitors; assist with airport expediting, logistics, and local micro purchases; plan events, assist in travel planning and TDYer arrangements; manage RAO vehicle fleet; and operate motor vehicles in a safe and secure manner.


Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

  1. EDUCATION: Completion of High School is required.

  1. EXPERIENCE: Two years of passenger and/or light cargo vehicle experience. Experience with both manual and automatic transmissions is required.

  1. LANGUAGE: Level II (writing/speaking) of Kinyarwanda and Level III of English is required. (This will be tested.)

  1. Must possess valid, current local driving license for automobiles. Must be resourceful and able to tactfully interact with officials and embassy employees in all situations.

HIRING PREFERENCE SELECTION PROCESS: When qualified, applicants in the following hiring preference categories are extended a hiring preference in the order listed below.   1. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
