ARC is looking for efficient and qualified person to fill up the following position in our organization;
POSITION TITLE: Nutrition Coordinator

RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Coordinator
STATUS:  Full Time
SUPERVISORY CAPACITY: Nutritionist, Nutrition Social Assistant

The overall goal of ARC’s program in Rwanda is to improve the well-being and self-reliance of the displaced refugee population from eastern DRC and Burundi by ensuring the provision of basic services (adequate health care & nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation & hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention & treatment), improving food security and enabling economic recovery in six refugee camps located in Rwanda.

Based at the refugee camp site level, the Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for the planning, management, implementation, and monitoring of nutrition programming in the camp.

  • Oversee and coordinate all the activities of the nutrition  sector
  • Develop and execute work plans and activity plans for the nutrition sector in support of annual goals, based on
  • Ensure that all nutrition projects have well-defined performance indicators and output monitoring mechanisms
  • Supervise nutrition staff on completing project activities, monitoring work performance, and ensuring protocols and standards are being followed
  • Develop therapeutic and supplementary feeding protocols that will be used in the rehabilitation phases of managing malnutrition
  • Develop strategies/action plans to maintain compliance of nutrition activities/goals with national protocols
  • Nutrition education: Develop growth-monitoring charts and other nutrition education tools to be used by nutrition staff and community health workers to sensitize beneficiaries
  • Build the capacity of nutritional assistants and social assistants on identification and treatment malnourished children, pregnant and lactating women at risk of developing malnutrition, and other vulnerable groups
  • Coordinate with other sector coordinators on planning and achieving program goals
  • Support/direct coordination of nutrition staff with other sector staff, particularly with other health staff
  • Monitoring: compile, submit, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual data from the nutrition sector, create and supervise nutrition surveys, analyze survey data and develop action plans based upon nutrition data
  • Represent ARC in sector meetings and communicate nutrition information to donors, leadership, government bodies, and coordinating bodies
  • Perform any other duties assigned by ARC Health Coordinator, or any other ARC Senior Manager.

  • University degree in Nutrition or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in INGO nutrition, food security, or related field
  • Knowledge of nutrition protocols, including SPHERE standards, WHO protocols, and Rwandan MoH Nutrition Protocols
  • Experience in analyzing and interpreting nutrition data and writing reports to a high technical standard
  • Experience of designing, implementing and analyzing nutrition surveys
  • Knowledge of the regional political and social conditions
  • Kinyarwanda, English, and French oral/writing skills
  • Excellent organizational, administrative and management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in protracted refugee situation and/or previous experience in Rwanda a plus
  • Experience in managing and working with a multicultural staff
  • Strong participatory leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to motivate and counsel staff working in a complex emergency environment

  • Strong leadership and management skills including strategy formation, process improvement and team building
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including effective presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent strategic thinking, process management and problem solving skills
  • Collaborative, result-oriented management style

  • Experience in managing multi-cultural and multi-level (numerous offices) programs

  • Ability and willingness to live and work in a remote, low-resource setting
