Opportunity for Training in Meat Processing
I.    Background
The Marketplace for Nutritious Foods Rwanda has recently concluded the selection of grantees for its first and second call for proposals with 10 companies selected to receive investment grants for the implementation of several agricultural value addition projects including meat processing, flo
ur blends and processing, egg production and Tilapia fish cage farming and physallis (gooseberry) production. The Marketplace project is now calling for applications from qualified companies or Individuals within meat processing to be provided with two day training. A maximum of 25 companies producing meat products will be selected by GAIN.
II.    Objective
GAIN has hired a consultant to provide training to 25 selected meat processing companies.  GAIN thereby wishes to invite eligible and interested meat processing companies in Rwanda to apply for this two training opportunity.
III.    Outcome of the training
Company delegates will be trained on:
  • How to produce various fresh and processed meat products based on governing food safety standards available in Rwanda and in East Africa region.
  • How to identify, operate and maintain machines and equipment applicable to each product
  • How to establish food safety systems and quality control management processes in the company including planning, recording, and reporting.
IV.    Eligibility requirement
Companies shall
  • Have a RDB certificate with TIN number
  • Be in operations for at three years and submit a proof of having competent technical team.
  • Be willing to delegate the technical manager or any other technician that will be handle practical demonstration.
Note:
  • Practical demonstration will be done at one selected site (one Marketplace grantee) on how to produce different products and get familiar with different meat processing equipment in a modern facility.
  • Accommodation, meals and transport will be covered by GAIN during the training.
