Purpose of the job
The jobholder plays a key role in assuring local adherence SHE policy. To coach, train and provide services to the Africa Improved Foods employees to maintain SHE compliance in line with the Company SHE requirements.
He/she contributes to the goal of a Zero SHE Incident and promotes a Zero tolerance SHE Culture.
Job Context
  • Assurance of information interchange through frequent contacts with various departments
  • Maintenanc frequent contacts with the SHE Service Providers.
  • Maintenan frequent, regular contacts with servicing companies in terms of environmental protection and occupational safety.
  • Represents the Company in contacts with local administration and other regulatory agencies with regard to environmental protection and occupational safety.
Key Responsibilities
The jobholder will be responsible for performing the following duties:
  • Assist in compliance reviews, risks, general risk assessment and other safety to support SHE management
  • Supervise, implement, coordinate and analyse the compliance with legal requirements and corporate Africa Improved Foods safety, occupational health, environment and property, plant (SHE),
  • Ensure that the management system SHE is in place, maintained, communicated and complied with.
  • Walk the manufacturing floors on a regular basis to establish SHE presence and provide support
  • Able to evaluate PPE and ensure proper use and maintenance of PPE
  • Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance
  • Identifies key SHE compliance gaps on site and promotes actions to close the gaps against agreed objectives and timed targets
  • Supervision of management changes in the plant in the SHE
  • Monitoring and evaluating the risks and take steps to eliminate them or minimize
  • Investigate and report accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Supervision of emergency response planning and the continuous improvement of fire protection system at the plant
  • Ensure that the installation is managed in a technically sound, safe and environmentally acceptable manner, by complying with all Africa Improved Foods requirements and other relevant requirements and best practices
  • Comply with local laws regulations.
Knowledge and educational level
Educational level:
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Health & Environmental Affairs, Technical, Engineering or any other related area
Required level of experiences
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Production, Agricultural, Breweries, Agro processing
  • Very good knowledge of safety and fire protection systems
  • In depth knowledge of SHE systems
Other Competences
  • Interactive team player with experience managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic business environment
  • Fluent in English and good working knowledge
  • Pro active approach
  • Pragmatic, with good self-organising skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
