Save the Children,Nurse Jobs in Rwanda



JOB TITLE:  Nurse
TEAM/PROGRAMME: HEALTH  
LOCATION: Mahama Camp
GRADE:  4                                           
POST TYPE: 4 months
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 – The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people.
ROLE PURPOSE:

The Nurse will work to contribute to an improvement in the overall health of the targeted refugee population of Mahama Camp through the provision of quality primary health care. ( Curative OPD, Promotive and Preventive Health Care)
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to clinical Medical lead
Line Management Responsibility: None
Budget responsibility: N/A
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
•             Responsible for the general running of the OPD in Diagnosis and treatment as per MOH/WHO guidelines.
•             Review all patients  requiring referral to secondary level Health facilities for further management
•             Undertake minor surgical procedures like I&D, Suturing of deep wounds etc
•             To conduct Nursing care of patients as per Doctors guidelines & Instructions
•             Ensure compliance to MoH/WHO guidelines of rational drug use
•             In collaboration with the consulting staff (MD,s Midwife & Fellow  Nurses) provide treatment as per MOH/WHO treatment guidelines and protocols
•             Follow disease surveillance and trends through review of weekly and monthly morbidity data generated from the clinic
•             Work with other Medical Team PHC Nurse to operationalize emergency preparedness to be able to responding to any potential outbreaks
•             Monitor medical consumptions and re-supply based on the data collected at the service delivery to minimize stock rupture.
•             Together with other Medical Team review and analyze all compiled data before submission to Management, MoH& UNHCR
•             In additional to the above listed responsibilities the Nurse will also be responsible for any other duty deemed necessary by the Line Manager.

•             Identify learning and training opportunities for Save the Children health staff and partners and work as a mentor and role model for less experienced staff.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
Qualifications
1.            A qualified Registered Nurse with tropical medicine experience, registered / licensed by medical practitioners board
2.            Experience in working in PHCU’s and health center/hospital setting.
3.            Experience working with international NGO.
4.            Excellent liaison abilities and good communication skills (French, Kiswahili and English preferred).
5.            Willingness to work in resource poor environment and be culturally sensitive.
6.            Ability to produce basic reports in English
7.            Ability to work in a remote area and in context of insecurity issues.
8.            Experience managing Referral of patients from Primary Health Care centres to secondary level facilities
Desirable
•             Language skills in Kinyarwanda, French and Swahili
•             An area of particular expertise within humanitarian health
•             Experience of working on HIV programmes
Specific experience of working in consortia projects.
