TITLE:  Social worker
TEAM/PROGRAMME: Health    
LOCATION: Kirehe District (Mahama Refugee Camp)
GRADE: 4            
CONTRACT LENGTH: one year
CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Program Coordinator – HIV/TB
Staff reporting to this post: NA
Budget Responsibilities: NA
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
•             Help patients navigate the complicated levels of public assistance requirements and other hierarchal social services
•             Help HIV patients by advocate for basic human necessities like food and shelter.
•             Help patients tackle the stigmatization of being treated as living with HIV.
•             Incorporate cultural sensitivity into daily work with patients tackling myths about HIV/AIDS by encouraging learning and advocacy.
•             Teach patients safer sex practices, encourage condom use, and provide a safe and nurturing environment that promotes healing and self-confidence.
•             Help patients regain control of their lives through self-reflection.
•             Conduct health education to the patient and his family, attend health education sessions to other patients seen in hospital
•             Design of the micro-social support services
•             Make the necessary support processes of social or abandoned cases and coordinate activities aimed at assisting vulnerable
•             Conduct home visit to PLWA
•             following a social worker’s care plan
•             Keeping records and writing reports
•             Perform duties requested by his supervisor in the work
•             Observe and respect the values & taboos as developed in the internal regulation rules

QUALIFICATIONS 
1.            A1 degree /certificate holder in Social Sciences (Social work, Sociology,

The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.
