Terms of Reference for hiring a Communications Intern
Background
Action Aid Rwanda (AAR), an associate of Action Aid International (AAI) Global federation, is   an anti-poverty agency working with poor. The organisation has been working in Rwanda as a full Country Programme since 1997 to contribute towards eradication of poverty and injustices with a focus on tac
kling the root causes of poverty. Action Aid Rwanda implements several activities in the areas of Agriculture, Education & Food security and Women & Poverty from 7 Local Right Programs(LRPs) including Nyanza,Gisagara,Ruheru,Murundi,Gitesi,Muko and Shingiro LRPs. The Communications Unit plays a key role in ensuring visibility of AAR work activities and enhancing its brand. The Communications role is very vital to document and disseminate the achievements of the organisation to achieve visibility and build its brand.
Objective of hiring a Communications Intern
The role of the communications intern is to support the unit in implentating communications and media work plan activities. The post-holder will support with the several communication activities of the organisation, and support with documentation, content gathering in the field, media field visits and other related tasks. The Intern will be given opportunities to learn new skills and broaden their knowledge in the area of Communications in an NGO.
   
Expected tasks & deliverables

  • Support in the development of Communications materials such as case studies, feature stories, supplements, blogs and any other communication material content.
  • Support in the collection of content for the AAR Quarterly Newsletter
  • Develop Communication materials for internal & external staff activities
  • Draft content for AAR social media sites
  • Write Press releases and support during preparation for  press conferences
  • Take high quality photos
Duration of vacancy
The ideal candidate will be hired for six months renewable based on performance.
Expected skills & qualities
  • Bachelors Degree in Mass communications.
  • Ability to communicate perfectly (Written & spoken) in English & Kinyarwanda
  • Fluency with digital & social media skills
  • Basic skills in graphic designing & use of designing soft wares
