RESPONSIBLE TO: Logistics Coordinator

STATUS:  Full-Time
SUPERVISORY CAPACITY:  None
DATE: September 2017
The overall goal of ARC’s program in Rwanda is to improve the wellbeing and self-reliance of the displaced refugee population from DRC and Burundi by ensuring the provision of basic services (adequate health care & nutrition, shelter, water, sanitation & hygiene, HIV/AIDS prevention & treatment), improving food security and enabling economic recovery in six refugee camps located in Rwanda.
ARC is looking for an experienced Cook/Cleaner responsible for performing general cooking and cleaning and upkeep of assigned area within a specific building. Specific tasks are not guaranteed, therefore, must be flexible in performing assigned duties as outlined below
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Prepare meals in healthy and hygienic manner for ARC Site Manager, staff and guests as needed
  • Responsible for all household and/or ARC office cleaning
  • Plan meals on weekly basis
  • Ensure there is an adequate amount of food for meals
  • Prepare a shopping food list once a week, at least a day before purchasing date
  • Minimize wasting food by monitoring food usage (using leftovers where appropriate, storing food properly
  • Ensure back-up cook is following the above in your absence
  • Laundry Clean
  • Report and request any maintenance/repairs and missing water/electricity
  • Always stock enough water to prevent water shortage
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned by the supervisor
EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Skills and good understanding of the use, handling and storing of cleaning materials
  • Excellent knowledge of hygiene promotion in kitchen.
  • Prior experience as chef/cook in restaurant or local hotels is an added advantage.
