ROLE PURPOSE

A full time Nutrition Officers will be required to oversee the coordination and supervision of all nutrition education sensitive interventions within WFP funded project in refugee camps. The incumbent also will ensure the integration of nutrition-sensitive interventions with other project interventions such as saving groups with some knowledge in livelihood in emergency. The position will be based in refugee camps and will require in-Kigali travel
Dimensions of the Role
The post holder reports directly to Senior Nutrition Officer. S/he is responsible of overall implementation of the project activities within workplace, collaborates with the partner organization staff at field level and Plan protection coordinator, and reports regularly the project progress to his/her supervisor. This position will be a fixed term contract with possibility to renew (contingent on renewed funding).
Accountabilities
  • Implement the overall project activities which include but not limited to:
  • Participation in camp budget preparation
  • Participation in quarterly project review workshops and in pre-test of monitoring tools
  • Ensures that project administrative processes are carried out in conformity with the agreed standards and policies, to ensure alignment to the project objective
  • Facilitate information sharing and coordinate activities among project stakeholders/partners at the camp level;
  • Prepare project reports in line with agreed budgets and activities;
  • Responsible for the field verification of project budget expenditures to ensure that project funds are spent as planned
  • Responsible of all activities related to livelihood and Gender in Nutrition Educationproject
  • Promote and abide by internal policies and procedures including but not limited to:Child Plan Protection Policy and Code of Conduct
  • She/he will act as the focal point person for the project within the camp.
  • Supports project implementation in the camp to be in conformity with WFP and Plan’s standards and policies;
  • Facilitate community dialogue sessionsand manage community sensitization campaigns;
  • Work collaboratively with UNHCR, stakeholders, MIDIMAR, Police, district officials and other partners.
  • Supervise nutrition animators work;
  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the NEC project
  • Assist the gender responsiveness and gender mainstreaming components of the project
  • Facilitate different trainings of beneficiaries
  • Document lessons learnt, success stories and/or challenges about the project
  • Facilitate the integration of program and CCCD activities in the field
  • Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Child Protection (CPP) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI) are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
Key relationships
Internal:
This positions report directly to the Senior Nutrition Officer and NEC project Coordinator respectively. However, this position will be required to collaborate across the Field Protection Team. This position will also work closely with the NEC country office team, finance and administration units.
External:
The post holder will make all possible efforts to maintain strong relationships with existing/recent partners and also ensure that Plan International Rwanda and NEC project team are well represented. This will include activities such as representing NEC at cluster working groups, working with relevant government ministries such as MIDIMAR and staff, and collaborating with other implementing partners.

  • Communication skills (fluent in English and Kinyarwanda, knowledge of French is an asset)

 Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor degree in nutrition science, public health, food science, agronomy .
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in nutrition education sector
  • 1 year Prior experience working with refugees and other vulnerable populations in nutrition related project is an asset.
  • Excellent reporting skills and competencies in computer literacy (M-Excel, MS-Word, & Power Point)

 These positions will be based in Mahama and Kiziba refugee camps. The position will require trips to Kigali sometimes.  Level of contact with children
